Welcome to the Brandywine Pastoral Institute

The Brandywine Pastoral Institute is a non-profit interfaith center providing pastoral counseling, psychotherapy and continuing education for ministry, located in Wilmington, Delaware.

This Institute has been established to carry out a unique counseling and teaching ministry. In its expression of ministry, the Institute not only counsels the faithful, but also those who profess no faith; those poor in spirit, as well as those who are materially poor.

We invite persons in spiritual and personal discontent to become fellow pilgrims on the journey of self-exploration. By means of the discipline of psychotherapy, we hope that persons can begin to integrate body, mind, and spirit, work toward mutuality in right relations, and find empowerment for justice-making.

A special welcome is extended to those who may feel or are considered to be on the outside because of lifestyle, circumstances, choices or others' prejudice.

By means of our teaching ministry with clergy and congregants, we hope to deepen skills in the pastoral care dimension of ministry and to raise questions about how faith and the struggles of life impact each other.
